Aer Lingus cabin crew ballot for strike action over roster row

Aer Lingus cabin crew are balloting for strike action in a row over rosters which triggered a stoppage at the airline last year.

The move comes as the Government is considering whether to sell its 25% stake in the airline to IAG, though it is understood that the takeover bid is not on the agenda for tomorrow's cabinet meeting.

The IMPACT trade union, which represents most cabin crew, has issued ballot papers to members outlining a number of grievances which will trigger industrial action if not addressed by management.

The ballot is expected to take three weeks.
